Why there is an USA version?
Have you ever wondered why only KME has decided to have sequential gas injection ECUs in two versions – European and USA? This is an intentional decision that improves reliability of installation.
From the technical point of view the difference is in resistance of internal petrol injector emulators. Having a choice and picking a correct one we can be sure that neither “check engine” lamp would never turns on nor petrol injectors never open in uncontrolled way.
In case of too high resistance petrol ECU may incorrectly diagnose that the current is too small and turns on engine malfunction lamp (“check engine”) and may turn off petrol injectors.
If the resistance is too small (current too high) petrol injectors may spontaneously open during gas driving mode. That causes irregular engine work, mixture variation by additional petrol and unintended petrol consumption.
One of those undesirable phenomena may occur in case of using an intermediate resistance (used in other sequential ECUs).
As a general rule one may assume that USA version is required for American cars, vehicles manufactured for American market and Mitsubishi (detailed description is included in ECU documentation).
In order to improve purchase logistics of complete assembly sets, we propose to get external USA emulator, which is a set of high-power resistors enclosed in a professional box. Connected to Diego G3 electronic control unit transforms equivalent resistance to the one used in USA version. External emulation allows efficient heat dissipation. Available in 4, 6 or 8 channels.
